The installation’s framework takes its forms from multiple instruments in the Jantar Mantar observatory, including the Samrat Yantra and Jai Prakash. Arc references the measuring scale in the Samrat Yantra, which allows viewers to tell the time with the changing position of the sun. The names of recent and current political prisoners are rendered in morse, alluding to Jantar Mantar as a site of protest, underground communications during wartime, and the mathematic language of the original scale. Two spotlights move slowly along the surface of the arc, referencing the movement of sunlight. The point at which they converge lights up the iridescent lines of Anchor.
